PIREP - Stark Avionics

As much individuals, I appreciate pireps from people with knowledge of shops you use (whether positive or negative) and love to offer my experience for that consideration of others at the same time. After a so-so experience during a recent avionics install, I found myself looking for an alternate avenue to the installation of a new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The tariff of one was high which i actually busted out laughing on the telephone just as if I were in a comedy bar. He was apparently significantly less amused while i. I was telling the storyline of my local quote into a friend in the airport and the man recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my research just before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps about the shop. In doing so, I came across a completely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you'd like to learn it). This pirep caused me serious worry about getting in touch with call Stark to get a quote.

I posted a broad query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and I spoke regarding his knowledge of Stark and I decided to give John a phone call depending on the two recommendations I received from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns relating to the negative pirep on MS it comes with I became gun shy in line with the previous experience. As they always say, there are 2 sides to each and every story and John took his time to explain his side in my experience like me certain he will be prepared to employ anyone else who want to call him up in that way. Our conversation shifted through the pirep to pricing. John and that i discussed different equipment options, what can work best with my needs/wants along with the flat rate installed price for each option. We ultimately made a decision to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted us a soft price, but was in advance how the number could be slightly higher if your tray was riveted in (as much Mooneys are). I visited manchester international that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were that come with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the one-time fee price for the equipment and install in some recoverable format and that we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane ended up being be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said however have everything ready by Tuesday, however opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday just in case there were some snags along the way.
